Size-Inclusive Care

My Experience

Since I was a young child, medical visits of any kind have been anxiety-provoking. It seemed that no matter what the ailment was, the advice was the same: lose weight. Over time, I started to dread going to the doctor and avoided seeking healthcare. Not only was there a crushing amount of shame, but my complaints were often overlooked, and the care I received was dismissive. Dismissive care, regardless of a person’s size, shape, or ability, is never OK.

My Goal

I want to be the healthcare provider that I needed when I was younger. As a Health at Every Size (HAES) aware practitioner, I understand the experience of living in a larger body. I take measures to provide inclusive care, including a wide massage table and equipment that fits a variety of body shapes. I can also provide many positioning modifications, allowing patients to benefit from strengthening techniques right now, as they are.
